PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that state government is in process of formulating a plan for including lactating women for COVID-19 vaccination in state as per Government of India guidelines.
“Government is very on the issue of vaccination; I will be live at 5pm today evening to brief on covid vaccination;” said CM Sawant
He further said that process of formulating a plan for including lactating women for COVID-19 vaccination in state as per Government of India guidelines.
While 18+ citizens are now eligible for COVID vaccination, the most recent change in guidelines now allows breastfeeding mothers to get the COVID-19 vaccine in India as well.
It should be noted that none of the clinical trials has involved lactating mothers yet. However, WHO and leading doctors have attested that the vaccines are still largely safe to take since they do not involve injecting a live virus into the body, and thus aren’t contraindicative for use when a woman is breastfeeding.
