PONDA: Ponda police have arrested a woman from Amona in an alleged government job fraud case after multiple youths accused her of cheating them on the pretext of securing government employment.
Police said the accused allegedly collected several lakhs of rupees from around 15 to 20 job seekers over the past two years by assuring them of government posts. However, the promised jobs never materialised, following which the victims approached the police.
Based on the complaints, police launched an inquiry and later took the woman into custody. Investigators are also examining whether more victims may have been duped in a similar manner.
Further investigation is underway.
