PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that the state government is positively considering the suggestion made by BJP MLAs for a lockdown in Goa.
Earlier in the day, in the virtual meeting held with CM Sawant, all BJP MLAs had requested the CM to impose lockdown in the state at the earliest in order to arrest the increasing number of Covid cases.
“Decision in this regards will be taken within two-three days after discussion with stakeholders and cabinet ministers”, said CM
He further said that he has directed all MLAS to go ahead and establish a COVID war room.
Dy CM Babu Kavlekar who was also present said that imposing a lockdown may have to be the next step before the government, because restrictions imposed by the government to curtail public movement had not managed to arrest the rising number of infections.
“We discussed about the lockdown (at the meeting). I have said that the manner in which cases have increased, we may have to go for another lockdown.
CM has sought everyone’s opinion and all MLAs were in agreement for a lockdown,” he said.
