Margao – Leader of Opposition Digamabar Kamat on Sunday said that every Covid patient in Goa needs to be considered as their own relative by all the elected representatives.
“We need to show a sense of belongingness to every person getting infected with Covid. There cannot be any other issue more important than Covid crisis in Goa for discussion during the one day assembly session scheduled on Monday 27th July. I demand that Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must clarify whether any other subject matter is more important than the Covid crisis and sufferings of people,” stated Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat.
He said that the the BJP Government which once advised not to worry about Covid pandemic is now afraid and running away from facing the opposition in the State Legislative Assembly.
“The death toll of Covid patients is rising day by day with unfortunate death of 14 year old girl yesterday. The situation will go out of hand if the BJP government does not act sensibly now and will push the goans into death trap,” claimed Digambar Kamat.
He said it is confusing that the Government has not cancelled the order of reservation of 20% beds in ICU’s of private hospitals, when the Health Secretary has stated that hardly 50% beds are vacant in Covid hospital and there is no need to set-up another Covid hospital in North Goa.
“The Covid testing process had slowed down with a backlog of almost 7000 test results till date. This is an alarming situation claimed Digambar Kamat. The sentiments and expectations of the people of Goa is to have a detailed discussion on Covid pandemic and its effect on Goas economy. If the government does not accept the Oppositions demand to discuss Covid, we will be compelled to take alternate course of action warned Digambar Kamat,” he said.
