PANAJI: Shripad Naik, a BJP member from North Goa and Union Minister of State for Power, New and Renewable Energy, stated that he is prepared to assume leadership roles in state politics provided the party assigns him to do so.
During a Goa Marathi Patrakar Sangh program, Naik was interacting with journalists at the Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) office in Panaji.
When asked if he wanted to be the state’s chief minister, Naik replied that if he was meant to hold the position, it would happen.
The senior BJP leader and six-time MP declared that he was happy with his position in the central government and added, “I have never asked for anything from the party.” I have consistently fulfilled all obligations that the party has placed upon me. I have enthusiastically accepted my induction as a Minister of State into the Union cabinet by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is a fact that we have to take care of the environment and ecology, Naik stated, adding that the Goa government should dispel the myths surrounding the Tamnar project. Development, though, is equally critical to human advancement.
“Not right to annoy the public.”
In response to a question concerning the state’s 3.5% increase in power rates, Shripad Naik said he was unaware of it but promised to speak with the state administration. “Public tariff hikes should not be imposed by the government.” I’ll discuss the matter with the state government,” he declared.
