PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today informed the House that the licences of private contractors who are registered with hotels and industries for transporting garbage would be cancelled.
Cortalim MLA Anton Vas had raised the issue of illegal dumping of garbage in the Village Panchayat jurisdiction of Cortalim.
“Licenses of private contractors who are registered with hotels and industries for transporting garbage would be cancelled,” said Sawant.
He further said that all the private contractors will have to mandatorily be registered with solid waste management.
“Contractors under the Goa Waste Management Corporation to take over the collection of waste from hotels and factories from private contractors,” he added.
Sawant also assured to take responsibility for the proper disposal of these wastes.
