As being made out in some press section, Luizinho Faleiro is no saint; he is playing the victim card only to gain sympathy. He was neither ignored nor harassed nor ignored, but due to his sheer selfishness, Congress lost a chance to form the government in 2017.
While Faleiro at the press conference said that he rejected the offer to be Leader of Opposition in 2017, he did not tell the press that his greed to become the chief minister in 2017 delayed the Party’s decision to stake claim to form the government.
As the Congress party president then, Faleiro fought Navelim polls and won, but he wanted to be the next CM. As we all know, Congress had more Chief Ministers than MLAs then.

At the press conference on Monday after his resignation as the Member of Goa Legislative Assembly, the Navelim MLA and former chief minister of Goa was reluctant to admit that he had resigned from the primary membership of the Congress, nor he acknowledged he was joining the Trinamool Congress.
His reluctance proved the guilt. He knew he was doing something wrong and did not want to admit that, and hence he told the media he wanted to unify the divided Congress family.
Faleiro, one of the most experienced members of the Goa Legislative Assembly, is on his way to TMC and would be nominated as a Rajya Sabha member soon, but he refused to say he met any of the TMC members.
“I have met only the I-PAC team,” he said.

Ravi Naik, Digambar Kamat, Luizinho Faleiro, Subash Shordkar, Babu Kavlekar all wanted to become chief minister. As such, there was no consensus which delayed Congress’ decision to stake a claim.
Yes, Faleiro has been a loyal Congress soldier for decades and worked for the Party for a long time, but the Party has also been kind to him. He was in charge of North-East since 2007; he was chief minister, he was GPCC chief. What more do you want, Mr Faleiro?
One of the closest leaders to Gandhi’s, Faleiro, enjoyed massive respect in the Congress, but after the 2017 saga, he slowly started losing that respect. And he has to blame himself for the same.
Also, age is another factor. Every political Party wants youth, and with Faleiro, almost 80, it would serve no purpose for Congress.
Hasn’t L.K.Advani been ignored in BJP? Has he decided to join some other party for a Rajya Sabha seat?
For Mamta Banerjee’s TMC, it is a win-win situation; their main aim is not Goa. With just five months left for elections, they know it is challenging for them to make much impact.
Their aim is to use Faleiro’s experience in North East as TMC looks to make a foray in those states where the BJP is slowly gaining the upper hand.
