PANAJI: On Wednesday, Governor of Goa, P. S. Sreedharan Pillai visited and saw for himself the working of various missionaries, orphanages, and District Hospital Margao in South Goa.
This includes Missionaries of Charity, Fatorpa in Quepem Taluka; Lar De Santa Terezinha, Pajifond Margao; Mattruchhaya Balika Kalyan Ashram, Gogol, Margao and District Hospital, Margao. Earlier in the morning, the Governor visited and took blessings at Ayyapa Temple, Vasco.
Governor said that he would visit various social organizations working in Goa in the next two months to know about their problems and issues. He said he is happy to meet the special people whose care is taken by almighty God.
After taking charge as the Governor of Goa while interacting with many people at Raj Bhavan, he was inspired by these types of institutions running in the State. These institutions are working hard and sincerely take care of humanity. Service to the people is considered as service to God. The culture of our country is “Sarva Dharma Sambhav” meaning all religions are equal.
“Ours is the country that welcomes and respects every religion and works together keeping in mind that human being is the only religion that should be given importance,” he said.
Life is very short, and one person’s activities are accessed by the almighty, he said.
Raj Bhavan with the coordination of Union and State Government will try its level best to help the institutions that take care of humanity, he said.
He appealed to the inmates and management to visit Raj Bhavan once the situation of pandemic ends.
Praying to God to give a peaceful life to inmates, sisters, and everyone who serves humanity, he said they will be protected by God.
He further said Goa is a developing State. People’s representatives of the State are dedicated to the downtrodden and are at the service of the people. Governor also shared his experience of being as Governor of Mizoram while interacting with students.
He said that responsible citizens should reach the downtrodden and weaker section of society to give them a helping hand in whatever way one can.
Underlining the word orphanage, which is used for convenience, he said nobody is orphan in our country. Service to the needy people is the service to the nation, he said. He said he is more interested in going to the people. Good modern medical facilities are provided by Government in the State.
A discretionary fund will be increased by Raj Bhavan in the near future, he said.
Governor was welcomed at Missionaries of Charity, Fatorpa by Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar. South District Collector, IAS, Smt Ruchika Katyal; Deputy Collector, Quepem, Shri Nilesh Dhaigodkar; Mamlatdar, Quepem, Shri Laxmikant Desai were present on the occasion. Parish Priest, Fr Jose Fernandes welcomed.
