PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa today while admitting the state government’s appeal challenging Tarun Tejpal’s acquittal in Tehelka employee rape case.
The High Court has directed Tarun Tejpal to appear before the trial court within 15 days.
Tejpal was accused of sexually assaulting a then colleague in an elevator of a hotel in Goa on November 7, 2013, and November 8, 2013.
After the in-camera trial, Additional Sessions Judge Kshama Joshi acquitted him of all charges on May 21, 2021
In May 2021, the state government had approached the high court seeking leave to file an appeal against the verdict of the additional sessions court.
On May 21, 2021, the court acquitted Tejpal of allegedly raping a woman in a starred hotel in 2013, bringing the curtains down on a seven-and-a-half-year trial.
