New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mourned the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, remembering him for his powerful screen presence, versatility and memorable performances.
Patekar died on Thursday morning at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. He was rushed to hospital after being found unconscious, but could not be revived despite prolonged efforts by doctors.
In his tribute, Modi described Patekar as an actor known for his intensity, individuality and distinctive presence. He also highlighted the veteran performer’s ability to bring creativity and versatility to his roles, creating characters that would remain memorable for generations.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged Patekar’s outspoken personality and his willingness to express his views openly.
Modi said Patekar’s contribution to both Hindi and Marathi cinema was immense and that his passing had created a deep void. He extended condolences to the actor’s family, friends and countless admirers.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also mourned Patekar’s death, recalling his personal association with the actor and describing him as a close friend and committed social worker.
Patekar had developed a strong connection with Goa and frequently visited the state. His death has prompted tributes from across the film industry and public life.
