BORIM: An estimated Rs 10 lakh was lost when a fire destroyed a residence in Borim on Friday. Residents are urging the government to help the impacted family rebuild their house.
Around ten in the morning, a fire started in Zuvan Minin Vaz’s home in Karsange, Borim. The family members were at work when it happened. When locals saw the smoke and flames, they promptly called the fire department.
However, a large portion of the house’s belongings, including clothing, furniture, kitchenware, and even gold decorations, had already been destroyed by the time the fire department arrived. The house’s roof was also badly damaged.
After around an hour and a half of battling, the fire was contained. Menino, Zuvan’s wife, commented about the loss with obvious distress. She sobbed as she remarked, “We’ve lost everything, even our son’s passport.”
When Borim Sarpanch Jayesh Naik visited the location, he voiced his alarm about the destruction. Stressing that the damage was roughly Rs 10 lakh, he pleaded with the government to offer aid right away so the family could restore their house.
