MAPUSA: The Mapusa Police have been given one day by devotees of Goddess Lairai Devi to apprehend the girl who made derogatory posts on social media about the Homkund ceremony in Shirgao.
They have threatened to hold a protest at the police station on Saturday if the police are unable to comply.
The suspect’s offense of hurting the devotees’ feelings has been reported to the police. Even so, no one has been taken into custody as of yet, even though the offense has been reported.
The girl’s mother maintains that her daughter is a minor, despite the police claiming that investigations are ongoing. Supporters dispute this assertion, claiming the girl is eighteen and that her mother is trying to trick the authorities.
The devotees have given the police one day to act after accusing them of showing partiality towards the girl and voicing their displeasure over the delay in her arrest. They will march to the police station if the girl is not taken into custody by then.
