CANACONA- Stating PM Modi has lifted several party cadre’s to the top posts, and he is one of them; Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar said it’s BJP’s central leadership that recommended him for the coveted position of Speaker in Goa Legislative Assembly.
After his election and after the first day of Assembly with Governor’s address, late Tuesday evening Tawadkar was welcomed with flowers and garlands at the Karmalghat Gumti and later proceeded to pay his obeisance at Shri Mallikarjun Temple and Shrishthal. Thereafter, Tawadkar interacted with the Canacona Patrakar Sangh, who visited to congratulate him on his appointment to the post of Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
Tawadkar informed he has no regrets or whatsoever little dejection he had for not appointing him as a Minister will pass off in two days time.
When asked if he is satisfied with the Speaker’s post, Tawadkar said, ‘I know there is little disgruntlement with my karyakartas that I have not been made a Minister, but a Speaker. See, I have been nominated for the post of Speaker by our party’s Central Leadership.
“There is a central decision for my appointment as a Speaker. There are no doubt that there are different factors to it, and all factors cannot be explained today itself. But one thing, the national leadership view on me is very positive as I am one of a dedicated cadre, an honest Karyakarta,” he said.
He added, “just like central leadership reimposed their faith on Dr Pramod Sawant to be Chief Minister as a strong part cadre/soldier, I am also looked upon by the party as a soldier of the party. Without the party, we would not be anywhere. As committed soldiers, we are honestly following the path shown by our party.”
Tawadkar went on to explain how Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet have lifted several cadre’s to the top posts in the country.
Replying to a pertinent question, Tawadkar said, “Maybe two days I will feel something for not appointing me as a minister, but I will immediately overcome this sense by my positive thinking, and as a Speaker, I have strong faith in my commitment to deliver the best possible to the society at large.”
He said that as a Speaker, his concept would be to overcome injustice, eradicate pain in society.
Tawadkar explained that though he is a Speaker, his services will continue to be available to the people of Canacona.
“I may be busy during assembly sessions and otherwise one or two days of the week, but the Opportunities are aplenty and unlimited to serve the people of Canacona. I will always remain connected to my constituency. No one can stop the one who wants to work,” he said.
Tawadkar assured Canacona people that there would be no issues left unattended in Canacona’ by the time this term ends.
When asked whether running the assembly and Speaker-related issues would be executed to the satisfaction of all, Tawadkar said, “The manner in which central leadership has shown faith in his abilities, I will not leave stones unturned, to track, find and learn anything and everything in the country as to how a Speaker should function and I have the strength to learn and I strongly believe in my capacity.”
“When I started with Adarsh Yuwa Sangh when I was working as a teacher in school, I have never anticipated that I would one day become an MLA, Minister, but today I am in 4th term as an MLA, and also became a minister, and now holding the most coveted post of Speaker in the state assembly. I will deliver, and I will learn and deliver if I don’t know.”
