Goa’s first COVID19 patient, Edgar Julian Remedious, who is currently residing in United States has hit out at the hypocrisy of the people amidst the COVID19 pandemic and he realised who his true friends were.
“I’m just amazed with the hypocrisy that people follow now, either because they or a family member are infected by Covid-19.
So, my understanding is that it’s not cool when others get it but when you get it, it’s not a such big deal after all! Double standards! Right!
Shame on all those people who ridiculed others initially who got the virus thinking they were better and they would never get it. Wrong, it’s a pandemic so get it through that brain of yours that everyone’s likely to get it,” Edgar wrote on his Facebook post.
He further questioned “What happened now? Who you gonna blame for getting infected? Would you like to make WhatsApp videos and circulate of yourself with what you refer to now as the new normal because it has happened to you! Think about it!.”
Edgar stated that forwarding videos with malicious texts and photos is equally wrong because people are promoting this ludicrous gossip and untrue facts.
“Come on, you all know who you are so don’t pretend it does not apply to you. Fortunately, I did not infect anyone, but the hue and cry and the pandemonium created was truly a nightmare to say the least. But I’ll tell you very openly, it opened my eyes to knowing who my true friends really were during this crisis. Some friends deserted me, and some people out of the blue came to my rescue like “Guardian Angels”,” he said.
He urged people to let us learn from this experience now and not hurt others with our actions and deeds because once you do that, there’s no turning back.
“This pandemic is about “us” as humanity fighting to survive. It’s not about who gets it and who doesn’t, it’s about overcoming this ordeal as a society, with dignity and respect for each other,” he said.
“Remember, at some point in time, we are all going to get this Corona Virus. Learn to deal with it and move on. It is part of life and the new normal for the next few years. Stay safe and stay healthy. God bless you all!!,” he wrote.
