CUNCOLIM: The Directorate of Mines and Geology has filed a complaint over illegal extraction and transportation of laterite stones from government land in Quepem, resulting in an estimated loss of ₹1 crore to the State exchequer.
As per the complaint lodged by Geologist Jeetendra Veluskar, the incident occurred prior to March 27, 2025, at Paryemol, Khaddem in Quepem. Unknown accused persons allegedly extracted laterite stones without obtaining the required permit or license from the competent authority and transported the material to an unknown destination.
The unauthorised activity is being treated as theft of government resources for personal gain. The case is being investigated by PSI Aditya Sawant of Cuncolim Police Station.
