PANAJI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued an orange alert for the state today and Yellow alert from July 5 to 8.
“Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and winds gusting to 40-50 kmph are very likely at isolated places over North Goa and South Goa districts of the State. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over North Goa and South Goa districts of the state on June 20 -24 2024,” the IMD said.
It said maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in the state were 34 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.
A cyclonic circulation lies over north Gujarat and its neighbourhood in the lower tropospheric levels. The offshore trough at mean sea level extends along the Maharashtra-Kerala coasts.
Under their influence, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Kerala-Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan-Goa, Gujarat State.
Isolated heavy rainfall may drench Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala-Mahe, and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka from July 3-7; Saurashtra-Kutch on July 3; and Gujarat Region from July 3-5.
