PANAJI: A warning has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding major weather events that are anticipated this week. Pre-monsoon showers with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are expected to dominate the weather patterns, according to the most recent IMD forecast.
According to the IMD’s warning, on May 13 and 14, there is a chance of thunderstorms with lightning and winds gusting to 30 to 40 kmph at certain areas in Goa.
According to the IMD, these next two days will see moderate to heavy rainfall in many areas.
According to the IMD’s May 15 forecast, a few locations could see light to moderate rain or thundershowers. There may be sporadic light rain showers on May 16, 17, and 18, and haze is predicted for May 18 morning.
Certain areas of Goa have already seen a significant amount of precipitation due to the weekend’s rains. Up until Sunday morning, spots like Ponda (40mm), Ela (40mm), Valpoi (30mm), and Pernem (10mm) saw a lot of rain. On Sunday, there were a few locations throughout the state that saw light to moderate rainfall, despite the reports of extremely light rainfall in certain areas.
At 34.6 degrees Celsius, Panaji recorded the highest maximum temperature, while Dabolim recorded the lowest, at 24.3 degrees Celsius.
Over the next five days, the IMD stated that it does not anticipate any notable variations in the highest temperatures.
