PANAJI: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is very likely at a few places over North & South Goa districts on November 5 and 6 due to low-pressure Area lies over Southeast and adjoining East central Arabian Sea.
“Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at a few places over North & South Goa districts on 5th & 6th November, and at isolated places on 7th. Short, intense spells and Winds of speed around 40kmph very likely with rainfall,” IMD said.
The forecast further states that heavy rainfall (64.5 – 115.5 mm of rainfall in 24 hours) is very likely at one or two places over the districts of Goa on 5th and 6th November.
“In continuation of previous forecasts, A Low -pressure Area lies over Southeast and adjoining East central Arabian Sea. Associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8km above mean sea level. It is likely to move northnorthwestwards and become a Well marked low-pressure area over the East-central Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours and concentrate into a depression over the same region during the subsequent 24 hours. Then it is likely to move westnorthwestwards away from the west coast of India,” it says.
