“India Stands With Nepal”: Relief Supplies Reach Flood-Hit Country As Global Support Grows

New Delhi: India has delivered emergency humanitarian assistance to Nepal as the neighbouring country continues to deal with the devastating impact of floods and landslides along its northern border.
A consignment containing 10 tonnes of humanitarian and disaster relief supplies along with essential medicines has reached Kathmandu. Additional assistance is also being prepared as India steps up support for Nepal’s ongoing rescue and relief operations.
The aid follows a conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart Balendra Shah. Modi conveyed condolences over the loss of lives and assured Nepal that India was prepared to provide all possible humanitarian assistance. Indian teams are also coordinating with authorities involved in rescue and relief efforts.
The disaster has claimed at least 160 lives, while hundreds of people remain missing. Several villages and towns have suffered extensive damage, with floods and landslides destroying bridges and affecting hydropower infrastructure. Rescue teams continue to face difficult conditions while trying to reach isolated communities.
International support has also begun to emerge as the scale of the disaster becomes clearer. The United States has expressed solidarity with the people of Nepal and indicated that it is prepared to provide humanitarian assistance.
The European Union has also conveyed its readiness to support Nepal’s emergency response. Germany expressed concern over the destruction caused by the floods in Nepal and China, while the United Kingdom said its consular officials were working with local authorities to assist British nationals in affected areas.
Canada has urged its citizens in Nepal to register through its emergency tracking system to help authorities provide assistance if required.
The United Nations has also joined international relief efforts. UN teams and humanitarian partners are helping assess the disaster, while mobilising personnel and emergency supplies to support communities affected by the floods.
With rescue operations continuing, Nepal faces a major relief challenge as authorities work to reach stranded people, restore damaged infrastructure and provide urgent assistance to affected families.
