NEW DELHI: In a significant step toward global inclusion and accessibility, the brochure for the International Purple Fest Goa 2025 was officially released at the United Nations House in New Delhi on July 12. The event was led by Shombi Sharp, United Nations Resident Coordinator for India, and attended by key dignitaries including Subhash Phaldessai, Minister for Social Welfare, Government of Goa; Praveen Ambastha, Deputy Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities; and Guruprasad Pawaskar, Goa State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. Scheduled to be held in Goa from October 9 to 12, the 2025 edition of the Purple Fest will be organized in collaboration with the United Nations and will focus on the theme of “Universal Design.” This year’s fest will feature international participation from globally renowned speakers, disability rights organizations, and NGOs, along with policy discussions on global best practices in accessibility and inclusion.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Sharp emphasized that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to breaking down barriers and building resilient, inclusive communities aligned with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Minister Subhash Phaldessai echoed this sentiment, calling the fest a proud symbol of Goa’s and India’s dedication to ensuring dignity and participation for every individual, regardless of ability. The collaboration aims to integrate international standards into India’s accessibility framework, promote inclusive innovation, and influence policy-level change. With a range of workshops, cultural programs, and global knowledge exchanges planned, the International Purple Fest Goa 2025 is set to be a landmark celebration of diversity, equality, and universal accessibility.
