PANAJI: Goa Police today has arrested one accused of committing theft of jewellery from a branded store in Panaji.
SP North Goa Akshat Kaushal said that the accused is identified as Abrar Hussain Baig (30) a native of Belgaum Karnataka.
“Our team arrested him from Belgaum. Gold ornaments have been recovered from Abrar. The modus operandi was posing themselves as customers at jewellery stores” said Kaushal.
He further said that these teams used to ask sales staff to show them Jewellery ornaments and later would steal them.
“The police team was continuously monitoring CCTV cameras. A lot of work was done on human intelligence as to which and how these gangs operate,” said SP North Goa.
During interrogation, it was found that this person had also stolen items from another jewellery store in Panaji.
“Recovery in the other case will done as soon as possible. I congratulate SDPO and PI Panaji, this is Avery’s good case with 100 per cent recovery,” he added.
