PONDA: Ponda JMFC Court today has granted bail to Pooja Naik in cheating case, but court has send her in judicial custody till she fulfils bail conditions.
Bicholim police is most likely to take Pooja Naik in custody in another cheating case.
Police sources claim that uniformed men have successfully obtained the officials’ names from Pooja’s phone logs.
Pooja, who frequently traveled overseas, also acknowledged conspiring with Goa government officials to arrange two employment. The government officials who reportedly assisted Pooja in arranging jobs have been taken into custody by the police. One of them is currently employed, and the other is retired.
In the meantime, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant declared that the government personnel Pooja had named would face harsh consequences.
Police claim that Pooja promised one family member a job in the Public Works Department (PWD) as a Junior Engineer and another a job as a Lower Division Clerk (LDC). A case has been filed by the Mardol Police in accordance with BNS Section 318(4).
According to related developments, Naik has also been the subject of complaints against Porvorim and Bicholim Police, who claim that she duped others by offering them government employment in exchange for money.
A watch notice has been issued by Ponda police for Deepashri Sawant Gauns from Marcel, who is suspected of defrauding a woman from Usgao, Ponda, out of Rs 15 lakh while posing as a government elementary teacher.
According to the allegations, Deepashri is the main defendant. Along with a female cousin of his who was taken into custody by Ponda Police on Monday, police officer Sagar Naik has already been taken into custody.
Two further FIRs have been filed against her since her arrest.
Priya Mandrekar of Porvorim claimed that Naik and his associates Ajit and Anisha Satarkar had defrauded her of Rs 4 lakh, claiming that they had done so in order to obtain a government post.
A similar accusation against Naik led the Bicholim police to file another case.
After learning about a new instance, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recently said he ordered the police to arrest her right away. He asserted that government employment does not require bribery.
