Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister of the State Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar has defended Union Minister Prakash Javdekar on his denial to speak on burning issues, saying the purpose of visit was only agricultural bills.
Kavlekar termed the press conference conducted by Union Minister Prakash Javdekar as extremely successful on his twitter handle.
He defined that the press brief was only aimed at clarifying doubts related to the three Agriculture bills passed in the parliament under the Modi Government.
In a press note issued by Dy CM Kavlekar he has said, “Although Prakash Javdekar ji is a Union Minister for Environment too, his sole purpose of this visit was to have a direct interaction with the state’s farmers and clear any doubts if they have on the Agri Bills passed by the center.”
Kavlekar said the Opposition is unnecessarily creating confusion about the three Agriculture bills.
“Prakash Javdekar answered all the questions asked by reporters on the bills. To avoid any sort of misinformation being passed to state’s farmers, he stuck to the main subject of three Agri bills even while replying to the questions. Though Mhadei is a an important issue for the state and one of the ministry that Javdekar ji heads at the center deals with it, the purpose of his visit was only about the agri bills”, said Dy Chief Minister Kavlekar in his statement.
Further in his statement he said, “Prime Minister Modi has asked 50 of his Ministers and party leaders to visit all the states and interact with farmers to clear any doubts they might have. Javdekar ji was one of them to visit the state on the specific mission. In last two days he first interacted with Farmers from Chodan village in Mayem constituency, later in the evening he interacted with Agriculture stakeholders at District office of BJP in Mapusa and on Sunday he interacted with state and national media at the secretariat, only on the 3 farming bills passed by central Government. Union minister has praised the state where MSP given by the state if higher than the National rate”, said Kavlekar.
As an Agriculture minister of the state Kavlekar, along with CM Dr Pramod Sawant and BJP State Chief Sadanand Tanavade, as a token of love from Goans gifted 5 different varieties of plants grown at State owned nursery at Old Goa to Union Minister Prakash Javdekar.
