PONDA: Local Sandeep Parkar had filed a complaint with the Pollution Control Board following the Pollution Control Board Officials inspected the site along with the Complainant.
Sandeep complained about plastic and hazardous commercial waste including soft drink bottles beyond the expiry date burnt at Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Deep Nagar Curti.
According to Sandeep, the MRF shed is not for burning plastic waste but for collecting, compressing and sending it to the concerned government plant for further process. However, at Curti Khandepar Panchayat MRF is used for
burning plastic waste outside the MRF shed by the contractor. Since plastic burning is banned as per Plastic and waste management act action must be initiated.
Sandeep said she’d it used for plastic burning and also for making commercial use of MRF shed for keeping thousands of expiry dates soft drink bottles.
Following the complaint pollution Control Board officials inspected the site.
