ST CRUZ: The Goa Medical College (GMC) kiosk owners whose establishments were demolished and were promised rehabilitation have now decided to protest outside St Cruz MLA Antonio Fernandes’ residence starting this coming Monday.
“Assembly session starts on Monday and we have decided to protest outside residence of St Cruz MLA Antonio Fernandes’ residence from this Monday for the government and MLA’ failure to rehabilitate the vendors as promised,” said Domnic Pereira
He further said that the association had come together and taken this decision of protest as they have now lost faith in the administration and the local MLA.
“We do not know why the government is turning a blind eye to this issue, our vendors have been present at the sport for last many years. Many of them do not have any other source of income now,” he added
The vendors present at the meeting today said that St Cruz MLA Antonio Fernandes had assured to allot shops within the next 2-3 days from the demolition date but nothing has been down as of now.
Fernandes had also informed them that during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, it was decided to allot 2-metre x 2-metre shop space to them, and this was also informed to the North Goa Collector, Ajit Roy. Still, now only the health department and GMC have to decide on it.
