MARGAO: Konkan Railway has recovered over Rs 2.17 crore fines from 9,548 ticketless travellers in the month of January 2024.
“Konkan Railway has been continuously conducting intensive ticket checking drives. In the month of January 2024 a total of 9,548 unauthorized / irregular travelers were detected without tickets and were penalized. A total of ₹2,17,97,102/- was recovered from fines”, stated KRC.
KRC further appealed to passengers to travel with proper and valid tickets in order to avoid the inconvenience, as KRCL will continuously conduct these intensified Ticket Checking drives along its entire route.
The KRC appealed to the people to travel with a journey ticket, adding that people visiting the Margao railway station and other stations should buy a platform ticket to avoid a penalty.
KRC said that will intensify the drive against ticketless travel in the coming months.
Meanwhile, KRC said that it has started implementing the parking and access charges at the Margao railway station.
He said people entering the railway station to drop passengers will be charged access charges only if they stay more than 10 minutes at the station premises.
