PANAJI: Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) has informed that it issued a show cause notice as well as a fine on the Hyderabad-based EV manufacturing company for the failure to deliver all 150 electric buses to the KTC.
“But because the company didn’t deliver the buses, a fine of Rs. one crore along with a show cause notice was given to the company,” said KTCL Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar.
He further said that the company is now committed to delivering the remaining buses within the next two months.
“The company has now pledged to deliver the buses within the following two months. We had contracted to deliver 150 electric vehicle buses to the Hyderabad-based company,” he added
Tuenkar acknowledged that the KTC is experiencing a severe bus shortage, with about 50 buses being condemned after they have been in service for 15 years.
However, he added that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s intervention has enabled the KTC to order 50 diesel buses, which will help manage to tide over the shortage.
“We will use these 50 diesel buses on interstate routes like Mumbai, Hubli, and other locations that have been impacted by the shortage after they are put on the road,” he continued.
