PANAJI: A day after the members said that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had agreed to regularise services and a salary increase, the Lecture-based teachers demanded immediate relief from the government.
During the protest at Azad Maidan, Panaji on Wednesday, the teachers said they had written to CM on the issue.
“We, the Lecture Basis teachers of Goa, would like to bring to your notice that inspite of putting so many years of uncompromised services in various institutions,
we are facing various issues. We have already come up to you with our grievances two times, but we didn’t receive any reply to date. More than 220 Teachers all over Goa received any kind of increment and are still working for years together,” the teachers said in the letter to CM.
They said the benefits of pl pay commission are taken only by the regularized teachers, and they are paid
only Rs. 250 per lecture since the year 2015.
“We demand 1. increment in the salary from Rs. 250 per lecture to minimum Rs. 600 per lecture, due
to rising inflation 2. Salary should be credited on a monthly basis rather than received after 4-6 months
since most of the teachers depend on it for the live hood. 3. All the teachers should be paid during the pandemic period as per the discussion done in April 2020 in the press conference,” the teachers said.
