PANAJI: At a press conference held today, Congress Party Vijay Bhike flayed the self-promotion Prashansa darbar organized by the BJP in yet another attempt to cover up the reality and brainwash the people in an election season.
He urged the people to attend the so-called “Prashansa darbar” and seek answers from the Ministers to very crucial questions and show this darbar for water it really is – an ELECTION JUMLA DARBAR.
“The people of Goa need to know why the promises made by the BJP before elections, like 3 gas cylinders and pensioners, medical insurance schemes, schemes for widows and many others, have not been implemented by this government as per its election promises. It also needs to be explained why petrol and other essential commodities prices have skyrocketed under the BJP dispensation. Why has no Minister or BJP government functionaries made any statement whatsoever on the Mhadei river diversion that will turn Goa from a water-rich to a water-starved desert state?” he said.
He said organizing self-propagating jumla darbars attended only by its own members to congratulate itself for its dismal failures in governance will not fool the people anymore. The people need answers. And they need the answers NOW.
Bhike also strongly condemned the financial excesses of the Pramod Sawant government in spending Rs.25 lakhs of taxpayers’ money on a 2-day training session for MLAs. “Charges at any 5-star hotel range from Rs. 3000 to 5000 per person, which works out to around Rs. 6000 to 10,000 per person for the two days”, he said.
He pointed out that the actual amount spent was Rs.62,000 per person, which was highly excessive. “One can enjoy a 6-day Dubai Singapore package tour which includes airfare, sightseeing tours and stay in a 5-star hotel for Rs.60,000”, he pointed out, wondering if the training session included the MLA’s families.
He said that Goa had reached its lowest point under this jumla government and urged Mr Rohan Khaunte to visit Bardez Dy. Collector’s office and experience first-hand the pain and trauma of the people struggling to get their work done.
