Margao: Live in the present! Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant should focus on judiciously managing our own funds rather than daydreaming of a future that too depends for 8000 Crores on the BJP Government’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who did not fulfil her own promise of giving 300 Crores for 60 years of Goa Liberation, said Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Reacting to the statement made by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant of placing a demand for 8000 Crores to undertake various projects in Goa, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao released a Video of the Union Finance Minister’s speech in Parliament announcing 300 Crores for Goa and claimed that in reality Central Government gave only 150 Crores for Commemoration of 60 years of Goa Liberation.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant needs to focus on putting his own house in order by streamlining available resources by judiciously using them. Strict austerity measures are the only way ahead as the BJP Government has already pushed Goa into a Debt Trap, stated Yuri Alemao.
Mhadei is already sold to Karnataka by the BJP Government. Crores were spent on the “Save Soil” Event. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant must have woken up after reading the 21-point Congress Loksabha Manifesto and asked for funds for Dams and Soil Conservation. He should explain what his Government has done in the last 5 years, questioned Yuri Alemao.
The government must focus on improving Road Infrastructure which is claiming one life a day. The public transport system needs to be set in order by creating the infrastructure of the Bus Terminus at Margao & Panaji as well as Bus Stands at other places. Later, the Government can think of Railway Expansion in the State, said Yuri Alemao.
The BJP Government has no money to pay needy Beneficiaries of Social Welfare Schemes. Sportspersons and Artists are not given their rightful benefits in time. Seafarers’ Pensions are delayed, and Widows & Senior Citizens struggle to get timely Financial Assistance, but the BJP Government spends multiple crores on Events, charged Yuri Alemao.
The BJP Government has already pushed Goans into a Financial Emergency by pushing the State into bankruptcy due to its faulty policies and priorities. Wasteful Expenditure on Events needs to be stopped immediately, demanded Yuri Alemao.
