PONDA: In an accident between three vehicles involving a trolly, a container truck, and a scooter, the father and son luckily escaped without injuries.
Since it was summer vacation, no students were at OPA junction, so the tragedy was averted.
Sandeep Parkar, a local, said the accident took place around 12.15 pm today when in Container truck was proceeding from Bali Cuncoliem to Honda and a trolly truck was proceeding from Murdi to Ponda and when it reached OPA junction. Both vehicles dashed over each other.
Due to this, Gokuldas Talekar and his son Suhas Talekar who were proceeding towards MRD on a scooter were dashed by a container truck however escaped unhurt.
Both trucks suffer major damage.
This is another major accident at the OPA junction. A couple of years ago, a truck rammed into the hotel at OPA, damaging its entire structure, and at that time, the hotel was closed, and no one was present at the junction.
Sandeep Parkar questioned whether the government waiting for fatal accidents. He said there is no visibility at the OPA road junction, which needs to be widened for the safety of students and passengers.
He said there is a deputy collector order to clear encroachment at OPA junction, but no response from Curti Khandepar Panchayat.
