BICHOLIM: Multiple commercial establishments, including a saree shop and local bars, were reportedly burgled overnight in Bicholim Market, with unidentified persons making away with cash from counters.
According to shop owners, the establishments had been locked between 7.30 pm and 12.30 am, with the thefts coming to light the following morning.
The burglars allegedly broke door locks and smashed cash counters to steal the daily collections.
Following complaints from traders, Bicholim Police visited the affected establishments, recorded statements and examined CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
While appreciating the prompt response by the police, traders have urged the authorities to intensify night patrolling in the market area to prevent similar incidents and ensure the safety of commercial establishments.
