PANAJI: Goa BJP President Damodar “Damu” Naik has expressed confidence that former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Utpal Parrikar could return to the Bharatiya Janata Party, stating that the party welcomes leaders who share its ideology and are willing to strengthen the party.
Naik said the BJP has always kept its doors open to senior leaders and veteran party workers who may have distanced themselves due to grievances.
On Parsekar’s possible return, Naik said it should happen, adding that there was no issue if the process took some time. He noted that Parsekar continued to share the party’s ideology and had attended ceremonies at the BJP’s new Atal Bhavan.
Regarding Utpal Parrikar, Naik confirmed that they had spoken once or twice and said the discussions would move forward.
He reiterated that the party was ready to welcome anyone committed to its principles and the country’s progress.
Acknowledging thata senior leaders sometimes feel overlooked when new entrants join the party, Naik admitted that mistakes can happen while accommodating different aspirations.
However, he stressed that neglecting experienced leaders was never deliberate.
Naik also highlighted the need to balance the experience of senior leaders with the energy of younger workers, saying the next generation must carry forward the party’s ideology and organisational legacy.
