GOGOL: The main absconding accused in the murder of Ali Khanzade at Gulistan Masjid, Mehboob Makandar, reportedly evaded arrest during a police operation on Friday night, while one of his associates was apprehended.
According to available information, Makandar was allegedly seen in the company of Sabir Khan of Gogol and Maila Ali Savnoor. When police moved in to apprehend the suspects, they reportedly attempted to flee. Police managed to arrest Sabir Khan, while Makandar and another suspect escaped.
Investigators have also issued notices to several persons suspected of having links to the alleged pre-planned murder conspiracy. As part of the ongoing probe, Mauy Ali of Chimbel has been directed to appear before the Investigating Officer for questioning.
Police are also examining allegations that Mehboob Makandar had allegedly taken money from Gulistan Masjid. Officials said appropriate steps would be taken to recover the amount if the allegations are substantiated during the investigation.
The case has been registered as Crime No. 04/2026 under Sections 103(1), 61, 63, 351 and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is continuing.
Police have reiterated that all accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
