MAPUSA: Three people who brutally attacked two young people were sentenced to seven days in police custody by a Mapusa court.
Ramakrishna Bhalekar, also known as RK, is the main suspect in the case and is still at large.
On Thursday, Manthan Raju Chiri, 24, of Ghateshwarnagar, Khorlim, Sridhar Shivaji Killedar, 26, of Samtanagar, Khorlim, and Abhishek Ramesh Pujari, 20, of Ganganagar, Khorlim, were arrested by the Mapusa police. The attack happened on Thursday morning at around 3:30 am close to an overhead water tank in Ganeshpuri.
After being struck with an iron rod, Ahmed Keshav Devadi, 30, of Laxminagar, Mapusa, and Sandesh Salkar, 28, suffered serious injuries.
At the moment, Goa Medical College in Bambolim is treating them.
Under sections 326, 506(2), 307, 120 B, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, the accused have been charged by the police for attempted murder, assault, criminal intimidation, and conspiracy.
The Mapusa police recently learned of information suggesting that Ramakrishna Bhalekar, the wanted man, and two accomplices have absconded to Karnataka.
Two police teams, consisting of eight constables and three sub-inspectors, have been sent to Karnataka to pursue the matter.
