Margao Congress block and the citizens today paid floral tributes to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia on his 115th birth anniversary.
The program, initiated by Congress leader from Margao Mr. Savio Coutinho, saw the participation of several prominent members and citizens like Adv. Nick Colaco, Dr. Roslyn Pereira, Adv. Snehal Onskar, Ex Councillor Radha Kavlekar, Charles Rodrigues, Robert Vaz, Anwar Naroo, Leslie Pereira, Rabindra George, Lalan Parsekar, Sujata Parsekar, Damodar Onskar, Anees Tanwar, Loyola Rodrigues and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Coutinho stated that every Goan is aware that Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia was the one who ignited the spark for Goa’s freedom from Portuguese rule.
“However, considering the present situation the state is going through in the form of corruption, destruction of Goa by unscrupulous greedy politicians, and the near-dictator type of administration, it makes us wonder whether our freedom fighters shed their blood and laid their lives for what we experience today “, Coutinho said.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of this great revolutionary, we call upon all Goans and most specifically Madgaonkars to rise up to a new revolution to free ourselves from selfish and power hungry politicians, who have trampled upon all the democratic principles, only to fulfill their vested interests.
