CURCHOREM: In a stark example of political irony, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, who stepped down as a minister to accommodate turncoat MLAs in the cabinet, has vehemently criticized the BJP government for putting several projects in his constituency on hold.
This development comes a year after Cabral resigned to make way for eight MLAs who defected to the BJP, a move orchestrated by the party’s central leadership.
Cabral expressed his frustration, highlighting that four key projects in his constituency have been stalled by the very government he was a part of.
He recalled a public statement made by the Chief Minister a year ago, where the CM assured that projects would be initiated promptly, saying “Bhivpachi garaz na and Radpachi garaz na” (meaning “no need to fear and no need to cry”). However, Cabral pointed out that despite this assurance, the projects have not moved forward.
Cabral emphasized that these projects are crucial for the people and not just personal initiatives.
He mentioned that while a hospital has been completed, additional facilities are still pending. Other projects, such as a bus stand and a swimming pool, remain in limbo. Cabral’s criticism underscores the government’s failure to deliver on its promises and start these projects, despite the passage of time.
