PORVORIM: Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho today informed the House that a file has already been moved to hike the salaries of Panchayat secretaries.MLA Venzy raised the issue of equal salaries to gram sevak & panchayat secretary
“File moved to hike salaries of Panchayat Secretary; Govt intends to ensure that Secretary are transferred after every three years,” said Godinho
Godinho further said that there has been a change in the Qualification/ Recruitment Rules of Village Panchayat Secretary and Gram Sevak after the year 2003 only to the extent of removal of essential qualification of having a successful completion of Pre-Employment Training under the Pre-Employment Training Scheme conducted by the Government of Goa which is based on the Policy of Government to scrap Pre-Employment Training Scheme.
It is informed that the charge of Village Panchayat Secretary is given to Gram Sevak under Administrative exigencies due to a shortage of Village Panchayat Secretary due to retirement/deaths/long leave etc.
“The Government is empowered to make such arrangements on a temporary basis whenever administrative exigencies arise so as not to hamper the smooth functioning of Village Panchayats,” Godinho added.
The Minister There has been no change in the promotional criteria for the next hierarchical post in respect of Village Panchayat Secretary and Gram Sevak after the year 2003.
