VASCO: As the countdown to Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations begins in State, Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Leo Rodrigues held a joint inspection of the Visarjan sites at Khariwado and Baina beach
The joint inspection was carried out along with other Municipal Councillors and the electricity department officials.
MMC Chairperson has directed the electricity department to ensure that all Visarjan sites have proper illumination
Speaking to the media after inspection, MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues said that the Visarjan sites would be clean and well-lit.
“We have also requested the electricity department to get the sites well illuminated, and we will also take up the cleaning of these sites,” he stated.
He said that Gammon India has assured to install focus on the bridge so that the beach area is well illuminated.
“We have also told the Gammon India to patch up all the road’s potholes leading to the beach, to which they have agreed. We have buses coming from all over to Baina beach, which is the main visarjan site, and we have also instructed the Drishti lifeguard team to be on standby during visarjan on the beach,” said Rodrigues
“We are already cleaning these sites, and we have told the garbage collector and Municipal supervisor to ensure that these sites are cleaned up immediately. We have also made a spot for the people to dump their flowers and other things after the visarjan, and these items will be collected regularly after the visarjan,” said Rodriguez.
