Even when the world was grappling with the COVID19 pandemic, certain “tasks” for citizens were given such as banging plates from balconies to commemorate the contributions of health workers at 8 pm on Janata Curfew or lighting candles for 9 minutes at 9 pm on April 5 to beat coronavirus.
On both occasions, the requests were met with equal proportions of love and brickbats on both social and legacy media. Nevertheless, Indians actively participated in both the “events”, some even violating the lockdown in misguided attempts to fulfil the PM’s wish (read mass gatherings, bursting crackers).
Answering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to show gratitude to health workers who are at the forefront of the coronavirus fight, people across the country came out clapping and beating utensils.

Since 2014, the people of India or the BJP supporters or the fans (sorry, I won’t call them bhakts as I would not call Congress supporters chamchas either) have shown their “unconditional” support to their hero Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Be it the Demonetisation, the GST, or any other tasks, the people have shown their support to the Prime Minister.

Answering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to show gratitude to health workers who are at the forefront of the coronavirus fight, people across the country came out clapping and beating utensils.
Several people sang bhajans (religious songs) and shouted patriotic slogans to boost the morale of health workers. Indeed India fought unitedly and today, we are back on track and have almost defeated the COVID19 virus. I do not know whether banging utensils or clapping did help do the job.
Two years later again came a call from the Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s appeal for “Har Ghar Tiranga” (tricolour in every house) elicited an excellent response.
Schools and educational institutions, apart from political parties, took out ‘tiranga’ rallies in their vicinity, reminding people of the importance of the national flag. People hoisted the national flag atop their houses and buildings. All the market areas, particularly in the national capital, were seen decked up with the national flag on Independence Day to give a festive look to the occasion. Whether one agrees or not, such a display of the national flag at a mass level was not witnessed, at least, in the last few decades.
If the people of India so much listen to the Prime Minister one wonders why he does not use his calls for some better purpose.
After popularizing ‘tiranga’, the national flag, PM Modi should take the initiative to popularize the Constitution among the masses with a view to empowering the people.
The Constitution, which is the foundation of the Indian Republic, tells us our rights and responsibilities towards the nation.
The major issue India or Goa is facing today is disrespecting women. Every day we hear about raped and murder.
Why does Mr Narendra Modi make a special request to all Indians, especially males, to respect women, they too have equal rights in the country, and the Constitution gives them every right to live the way they want.
I am not saying the past calls were not in good taste or useless, but my only issue is why is the prime Minister not acknowledging or addressing such a grave situation. Why can’t the PM give a call to youth to respect women and let them live the life they want and create an environment of safety?
As we saw hundreds and thousands and lakhs of people support the prime Ministers call, I feel it is time for OPM to call for banging utensils or clapping or candle march for the safety of women in India and if that happens and India becomes a better place for women, believe me, I will become your biggest fan.
