Panaji: BJP Panaji MLA Babush Monserratte is facing hit within the party for the CCP elections.
Divide within BJP was quite evident today during the nomination filing.
While on one side Monserratte backed panel’s 30 candidates filed their nominations, on the other hand, BJP loyalists including Dattaprasad Naik and Sidharth Kuncolienkar extended support to independent candidates.
Former CM late Manohar Parrikar’s son Utapl has also decided to campaign for strong candidates against Monserratte.
Monserratte has been uncrowned king of CCP over the years now. However, this time, its not just opposition within BJP, but also some prominent citizens have come together against the Panaji MLA.
Naik and Kuncolienkar said that they will support good candidates in the CCP election as polls are not on party lines.
Monserratte is facing ire after he denied candidature to some of the BJP loyal workers. More so, he has fielded his own son Rohit from ward No 3.
