PANAJI: According to Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, the Minister for Surface Transport gave the order to impose the Mopa toll. A complaint has already been filed with the Union Transport Minister.
Since it is a central law, it must be enacted consistently. He was answering questions from the media about the threat made by tourist taxi drivers to abandon their passengers at the Link Road rather than pay taxes.
Mauvin stated that he is not afraid of threats in relation to the contentious taxi issue. “I am adamant that Goa and its residents require app-based taxis and that we must embrace cutting-edge technology everywhere we go. We are going digital for this reason. We can’t fall behind,” declared Mauvin.
Concerning two official apps Mauvin clarified, saying, “The Transport Department adopted one app that GTDC developed. Together with the IT department, the tourism department itself promotes the other app. Allow the taxi association to develop an app of their own.
