MORMUGAO: Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh on Wednesday urged the people to use 1930 portal to tackle cybercrime while adding that the portal had special powers to freeze the amount transferred to fraudsters if complains are made immediately
Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh speaking to reporters said that was a significant rise in Cybercrimes and that an online Portal 1930 was formed to tackle these crimes
” This is a direct portal and a free number at a national level which will be available 24 hours . Anyone can register their complaints on this number at any time in case they are victims of a cyber crime or if they get calls from fraudsters asking for Pin numbers on the pretext of KYC verification on behalf of banks. The persons can use the portal immediately and the complain will be registered immediately and it will also generated a complaint number. Many of the people nowadays are getting calls that their children have been kidnapped and the parents start to panic and sometimes fall prey by paying money online to such cybercrime fraudsters . Some fraudsters are also targeting pensioners by luring them that their money will be doubled or tripled and many people start paying them online.” Said Shaikh
Shaikh urged the people to take help of the police in case they get such calls
” We have trained our staff in every police station to help some people to register their complaints on this 1930 portal. We urge the people to immediately either register their complaints online or immediately approach the police the same day because we can hold the money and stop it through the 1930 portal. The 1930 has a team of experts and they have been given special powers to freeze the amount that has been transferred to their account and even hold the payment if the fraudster has transferred the money from one bank to another. This ensures a bright chance for the victim to get refund of his money. Everyone must remember this number and use this portal to the maximum and they don’t even have to come to the police station. ” Said Shaikh
” We will also create an awareness about this portal by having huge banners and posters in every Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals . We will also have these posters at bus stands and railway stations as well to ensure maximum publicity for the 1930 national portal to tackle the cybercrime which is the initiative of Goa Police ” said Shaikh
