VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council is facing hardship due to revenue issues, leading to delays in paying salaries to its working staff. One of the main reason is the sudden halt in the Re Assessment of houses amidst the Lok Sabha Elections.
MMC Chairperson Girish Borker said that the House re assessment will commence post the Lok Sabha elections
“To boost revenue, the council had initiated a house assessment for tax revision. However, the assessment procedure has been hampered by the deployment of most staff on election duty for the Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
“This deployment, coupled with an existing staff shortage, has further delayed municipal work. The council is grappling with the challenge of balancing essential duties while ensuring revenue generation and staff welfare,” said Borkar.
