PONDA: The Much awaited development works on NH at Nageshim Bandora Junction to get Underpass , while Khandepar new bridge will get approach road.
This two major works along with service road at KTC Bus Stand and service road at Kerya would be done by costing Rs 72 crore.
The work order will be given next month and the Contractor would began work on ramp of new Khandepar bridge as well as underpass at KTC Bus Stand. Both the works are expected to complete by December this year.
The officials said four years back the KTC Bus Stand Junction to Khandepar NH was four laned however the underpass could not be constructed near KTC Bus stand junction as Historic Safa Masjid was located close to the site.
Following this commuters was forced to undergo hardship while crossing the road at the historic Safa Masjid junction. The underpass was not feasible along the widened road as Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) did not permit the same as the Safa Masjid which is located close to the Highway is a protected site.
However now the underpass will be constructed away from Safa Masjid junction at Nageshim Bandora Junction near KTC Bus Stand. The proposed underpass will help in the smooth movement of buses and vehicles to the KTC bus stand and Chirputem residential area. Similarly, the vehicles proceeding to Nagueshi-Bandora will use the straight road as usual said officials.
The NH Officials said similarly the ramp work on new Khandepar bridge was pending as ramp road matter was subjudice and now the issue is resolved already tender has been floated.
The Khandepar new bridge was constructed four years back and was inaugurated without ramp to bridge at OPA Junction , following this traffic was diverted through service road and also through old bridge causing lot of hardship to commuters. The OPA Junction was turned accident prone in absence of ramp to bridge.
