PANAJI: A day after the government faced criticism from the opposition over the announcement of a short winter assembly session, the Speaker, Ramesh Tawadkar, hit back, stating that he does not work under any pressure.
“I do not work under any pressure under any circumstances. I assure you that the next assembly sessions, i.e. monsoon session, will be lengthy,” said Tawadkar.
The Speaker said that he supports long Assembly Sessions.
An our-day session of the Goa Legislative Assembly will be held from January 16, 2023.
In an order issued on Thursday, Namrata Ulman, secretary Goa Legislative Assembly, informed the members that the Governor has summoned the session on January 16 at 11.30 am. It would end on January 19.
Reacting to the notification issued by the Goa Legislative Secretariat for only a four-day Assembly Session, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Yuri Alemao lamented that such curtailed Assembly sessions deprive the Opposition MLAs of their right to move bills.
