The new Education Director Santosh Amonkar has ruled out re-starting of schools before September 2020 considering the rising number of COVID19 cases in the State.
The new director soon after taking charge from former director Vandana Rao has submitted a proposal to the government saying schools cannot begin in August, as recommended by the MHRD.
MHRD had suggested schools to begin after August 15. However considering the spike in cases and rising COVID19 deaths, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant too has been non-committal on the issue so far.
Speaking to reporters, the new Director Amonkar said that the department expected the schools to begin next month.
“The circumstances are not right plus we have Ganehs holidays too from August 20,” he said.
