Astudent had written to Goa University vice-chancellor three days ago about teh issue, but nothing has been done so far.
“Here at women’s hostel, we have not had sanitary water supply for the past 3-4 days, and it has significantly negatively impacted on my health and well as mental state. I personally have been experiencing nausea, soar throat, and stomach ache. The water is coming out is brown from the taps as well as the water purifier,” she said in a complaint.
The students further said that they have been complaining about this issue since 12 March 2021.
“There is no clean water here, and hence we are spending a large sum of money on drinking water and alternative solution for bathing and brush of teeth. I have ISA tomorrow, I have been so focused on how I will manage without clean water. It is significantly affecting my mental health, and I am unable to study,” teh student wrote..
She said that teh Vice-Chancellor is a former Marine Science specialist, and he would understand the grave depth of this contaminated water on our health.
“Mr Sadish, the university engineer in charge of maintenance, has not been helpful at all in providing an alternative solution to the current problem of water provisions for the women students of the hostel,” she said.
The student asked for the VC intervention and thoughtful solutions on this current problem at the earliest.
