PANAJI: “It is not right to burden the Consumers with the 6 per cent power tariff hike for the inefficiency of the Government. I have urged Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) to direct Goa Electricity Department to make public Proforma Account & Demand, Collection & Balance Statement,” stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Congress President Amit Patkar and Cumbarjua Block President Vishal Volvoikar attended the Public Hearing in Panjim today and opposed the power tariff hike.
“I have already written to Chief Electrical Engineer seeking details of power losses in the State and action initiated by the Government to control power thefts etc. I will file my written objections once I receive the data,” informed Yuri Alemao.
Now Goa Electricity Department says that the proposed tariff hike is due to the increased cost of Coal imports. BJP Government at the Centre has deliberately failed to achieve the Solar Power Generation target of 175 GW by 2022. BJP Government in Goa reached just 33 MW against 358 MW of Solar Power Generation to help Crony Capitalist Adani charged Congress President Amit Patkar.
Congress Party strongly opposes the proposed power tariff hike and demands that JERC should reject it. People are just recovering from the Covid Pandemic blow on the economy & insensitive BJP Government wants to burden them again, Amit Patkar said.
