PANAJI: As Bombay High Court at Goa slams State government for differentiating between Goans and non -Goans over want of COVID negative certificate or vaccination certificate to enter the coastal State, the Government has assured to bring the locals under the mandatory restriction.
During the hearing on Tuesday, the Division Bench slammed the North and South Goa District Administration for passing orders allowing Residents of Goa without a Covid negative certificate.
The Court was of the clear view that COVID Virus doesn’t differentiate between Goan or a non-Goan and hence the logic of exempting locals from the restrictions dose not stand.
The Advocate General Devidas Pangam has assured High Court to modify the order passed on May 9 and to barred everyone from entering Goa without Covid negative certificate issued within 72 hours of travel or full vaccination certificate.
The Court accepted the submission made by the Government.
The District Collectors in an order issued on May 9 under Section 144 CrPC has banned Inter-state movement of tourists without negative certificate or vaccination certificate. It had exempted Goans from the same on produce of residential proof.
Also those entering State for work purpose were also exempted along with those for medical emergency.
